The Takoradi branch of the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) has held intensive prayer sessions to pray for themselves and intercede for other members with special needs as part of measures to climax this year’s Beginning With Jesus revival event, an annual event on the church’s calendar.
Intensive prayers were offered to God based on the messages that came throughout the fasting and prayers period in the course of the week as members prayed into their lives and prayed for others for the intervention of God and for a performance about the messages spoken to them.
Pastor Daniel Okyei Boakye, Resident Minister of the church in a sermon took members through 2Kings 6:8-23 which was the main scripture for the event.
He noted that oftentimes what people discussed in their private meetings are brought out in the public and quizzed, “do we have spies spying on us and revealing secrets about us to our enemies?”
He emphasized in verse 12 and said it was his prayer and avowed intent for the church that whatever secret the devil through his cohorts plan about the members shall be made known to them by God.
He affirmed the commitment of God to make known what others plan about Christians but stressed the need to be serious with God by giving up on mundanity, amorous living and vices to be able to align themselves with God and to hear from God.
He enumerated the security and defence God has put around Christians and said, those that God has apportioned to stand in our stead were more than those that stand against us, arousing the response of the members as they shouted, “those with us are more than those against us.”
He also stressed verse 23 which reads, “The raiding bands of Aram didn’t bother Israel anymore” and we will not be bothered about what the enemy plans against us”, and assured the members of God’s protection, security and goodness as they journeyed into the year and beyond whiles remaining steadfast in the Lord.
He encouraged the members to make it their prayer that God will reveal things to them so that nothing goes on in their lives without God revealing it to them.
Pastor Boakye enjoined the members to make it a point to position themselves such that they will be the prophet of their lives to be able to see the plans and doings of the Lord and the intents of their enemies as they unfold.
He likewise encouraged the members to consider praying on three things that God will open their eyes that they may see the things happening around them so that they may not move outside the will and command of God.
Secondly, that, they will strike the enemies to defeat and thirdly, that, they will not sit down for the enemy to threaten them but respond to every threat of the enemy with prayer.
He recounted how Daniel resorted to prayer for excellence and deliverance thereby bringing out the king’s forgotten dream and further interpreting the dream.
He also recounted how Hannah yielded to prayer in her predicament confronting her threat with prayer and charged the members to emulate same in the year and the years ahead for God’s intervention.
He read from 2Chronicles 20:3 which reads, “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah” and said God, the Commander of God’s army will lead His army to victory as His people relied on Him and called on Him.
He pointed out that in the era of Steven the Apostle because the Church failed to pray the apostle was executed but when it got to Peter the church became sensitive to the situation and lifted a prayer to God for intervention which got Peter out of the prison.
The Resident Minister, therefore, ushered the members into some electrifying prayers after the sermon.
