Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo has hinted that a total of 43 Million Dollars is being used for the construction of Benchema to Ajoafua cocoa roads in the Bia East District in the Western North Region.
He said the 34km cocoa roads from Benchema to Ajoafua was awarded to Amandi Construction Limited with funding from COCOBOD.
Mr Aidoo who gave the hint during a visit to the Western North Region after three (3) years of cocoa rehabilitation emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has really done well in cocoa production in the Sefwi and its catchment areas.
According to him, the Benchema – Ajoafua cocoa roads were important to the Ghana Government and the COCOBOD since it is linked through major cocoa producing communities.
He observed that cocoa farmers in Ghana especially those in the Western North Region after harvesting cocoa find it difficult to transport cocoa beans from the various farms to the SHEDS.
Mr Aidoo, therefore, commended the Government for taking interest in cocoa roads, especially the Western North Region under the “Year of Roads” agenda.
He was of the view that cocoa for decades has been the bedrock of Ghana’s economy with the efforts of cocoa farmers across the country.
