
The Ho Municipal Assembly (HMA) in the Volta Region together with its stakeholders has held a media launch for the upcoming Ho Expo 2022 to set the stage for the necessary synergies to be created among tourism, real estate, and infrastructural development to propel the Municipality to higher heights.
Mr Divine R. K. Bosson, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ho Municipal Assembly who launched the event announced that the event having been carefully thought through aims at changing the face of the Ho Municipality to one which focuses on growth, development and employment creation for the youth.
He noted that the sole reliance on agriculture as the mainstay of the Municipality has proven over the period that there was the need to diversify and delve into other economic activities to enhance income generation and reduce poverty among the populace.
This, he said, calls for pragmatic measures aimed at lifting the majority of the people from the duldrums and therefore, deemed the theme for the event, “Positioning the Oxygen City, Ho for Infrastructural Development and Tourism” as appropriate.
He pointed out that the Municipality has many tourism potentials that need to be developed and packaged to attract tourists adding, “Our unique location, very friendly weather, flora and fauna resources presents us with great potentials for tourism.”
Mr Bosson, therefore, expressed the optimism that the Ho Expo 2022 event would present to the local and international communities the tourism potentials of the Municipality and also engender the necessary investment into the sector.
He challenged the captains of industry, businesses, commercial farmers, hoteliers and other stakeholders in and outside the Municipality to the task and said “the time is now to invest in Ho” project must bounce back.
He also announced that various committees have been put in place to carefully plan the event which would be held in August 29 – September 11, 2022 at the Jubilee Park, and entreated all stakeholders who can assist to ensure the success of the event not to sit on the fence but join the working sessions.
Mr Benjamin Komla Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central who chaired the ocassion called for attitudinal change among the populace in keeping the city clean to make it more attractive for investors.
He urged the business community to embrace modern ways of doing business so as to attract tourists and position themselves for investor confidence and readiness.
He also implored the business community to take advantage of the digital space by adopting digital marketing principles, and lauded the Municipal Assembly and the partners for the event, calling for all hands on deck to make the program a success.
Mr Emmanuel Agbaxode, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in his remark assured the organisers the full support of his administration towards the event and the general course of the region to lift its image.
He noted that the event will project the cultural and tourism potentials of the Ho community and for that matter, the benefits of the event cannot be over emphasized.
He implored the journalists to support the event and give it the needed publicity where possible and as well report on it to inform the populace and those in the diaspora about it.
