Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi has challenged the youth of Ho and the country at large to take full advantage of the emerging opportunities in intra-African-tourism.
She said this was critical due to the fact that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) was about the movement of goods and services which in essence was equally about the movement of the African people.
H.E. Ashipala-Musavyi made the call during the official opening of the Ho Expo 2022, a platform for the local people to meet businessmen from all spheres of life to create the necessary synergies for the industrial takeoff in the Municipality.
It was held under the theme, “Leveraging On Agri-Technology and Agribusiness Growth and Development”

According to her, for meaningful Intra Africa trade to be sustained and beneficial, Africans must interact and visit one another’s countries and in so doing shall embrace one another and build confidence among ourselves.
“We shall be exposed to and take pride in our rich and diverse African culture. Most importantly, we shall and BEGIN TO CONSUME WHAT WE PRODUCE and create jobs for our young people. This should be the content of intra-African tourism”, she stated.
She commend the Ho Municipal Assembly for organizing the Expo and said the overall theme was befitting not only for Ho and Volta, and not only for Ghana, but also speaks to the current social and economic realities of the African continent.
“The theme is befitting because, Volta Region has what it takes to become a tourism hub of Ghana and the city of Ho has the soul and the spirit to drive it”, she stressed.
Mr Divine Komla Bosson, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the Expo was a dream come through as it serves as a platform for the local people to meet businessmen from all spheres of life to create the necessary synergies for the industrial takeoff in the Municipality.
He pleaded with the residents to put all hands on deck in harnessing the God-giving natural and human resources in the Municipality and in order to build a better life for the people devoid of partisan politics.
He said the event has come to stay and that the Assembly was ready to embrace any partnership in tourism, agribusiness, technology and real estate among others towards the improvement of life and the development of the Municipality.
The MCE indicated that the city was positioned to be a potential investment destination in the country and expressed the optimism that Ho was bouncing back as it was his hope to see the city redeeming its image.
Mama Atrato II, Queen-mother of Ho Dome who chaired the occasion called on the youth to take advantage of the opportunities highlighted at the event to create jobs and better their lives.
She pledged the support of the traditional leaders to the Assembly in its efforts to make the city an investment destination in the country and noted that the Expo was meant for development and job creation for the youth.
