
Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has lauded the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for his remarkable humility, which the Minister deemed as a crucial quality for effective leadership.
He noted that among the ten (10) candidates who are aspiring for the flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Bawumia has the humility of a leader that the party and the country require.
Speaking at a meeting with party delegates in Takoradi dubbed, “Bawumia Connects” as part of his campaign tour of the western region, the Regional Minister expressed his admiration for Dr Bawumia’s leadership style, highlighting the Vice President’s approachability, openness to feedback, and willingness to listen to the concerns of the people.
He stressed, “Dr Bawumia has consistently demonstrated the humility of a leader that we require in our nation. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life and empathize with their challenges is truly commendable. It’s evident that he places the welfare of our citizens at the forefront of his decision-making process.”
Mr Darko-Mensah who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi Constituency went on to recount instances where Dr Bawumia’s humility had a positive impact on governance and community development.
“I have personally witnessed how he engages with local leaders and delegates during his visits, taking the time to understand the issues they face and striving to find practical solutions. This inclusive approach to leadership is precisely what our party and country need to move forward”, he stated.

While addressing the delegate, the Minister also emphasized the importance of humility in leadership and how it fosters cooperation and unity among the population.
He, therefore, encouraged the party officials and delegates to consider Dr Bawumia’s example, stating that such attributes were essential for electing him as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to “Break the 8”.
According to him, it was worth noting that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a renowned economist and politician, has been serving as the Vice President of the country since 2020 when the party came into office.
He pointed out that throughout his tenure, he has been recognized for his efforts in various national development initiatives, including economic reforms and digitalization campaigns.
For his part, Western Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Ndede Siah beseeched the delegates in the region to give a ninety-one percent (91%) victory come November during the party’s congress to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.
He recounted that Dr Bawumia supported the constituencies and the polling stations with resources during the elections and said it was time to give back to him for his support and love for the party.
